Cream Highlighter
These days, there are so many liquid highlighters that I find I prefer liquid over cream as I think they blend out a little more readily on top of base products.

Alter-ego (72)Sephora Alter-ego (72) Cream Lip Stain ($14.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark peach with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had rich color coverage that applied evenly and fluidly across my lips. The liquid lipstick was thin with a light creaminess that helped it spread easily on my lips, and it dried down within 15 seconds to a transfer-proof finish. It didn’t feel overly clingy and didn’t exaggerate my lip lines like a drier liquid lipstick formula can. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours and was non-drying. Top Dupes
Formula Overview$14.00/0.17 oz. - $82.35 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to have "high-coverage" that goes on "smooth" and yields a "silky, lightweight stain" that is "long-lasting" and "never sticky" and "won't dry out lips." One of the signature traits for the formula is that it is a thinner (and yet somehow creamy) texture that does spread well but feels thin and very lightweight on the lips. It dries down quickly, but I never felt like it was troublesome to apply, even if I needed an extra moment to get around the edges of my lips, so it was a more forgiving formula despite setting more quickly. Once it set, the color did stay locked on for hours--I tested shades for around eight hours and many were still going strong. The formula was non-drying to slightly drying to me. They had a moderately strong, sweet scent (almost like burnt sugar) that also smelled just slightly "perfume-y" to me, but it seemed to dissipate after an hour of wear. The pigmentation varied from shade to shade, but it did seem that the more shimmery and metallic shades often were less pigmented and did not always apply as evenly and sometimes seemed to sit in my lip lines. The cream/matte shades applied more evenly and had more opaque coverage on average. Browse all of our Sephora Cream Lip Stain swatches. IngredientsIsododecane, Dimethicone, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Polybutene, Petrolatum, Cyclohexasiloxane, Kaolin, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Aroma (Flavor), Glyceryl Behenate/Eicosadioate, Propylene Carbonate, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Tocopherol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Benzyl Alcohol. Audacious Emerald (60)Sephora Audacious Emerald (60) Cream Lip Stain ($14.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium-dark, bluish-teal with a golden, metallic sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in one layer, and it did not apply evenly. The texture seemed to be a little too emollient and more prone to gathering and drying down in my deeper lip lines, and it was harder to get that even, opaque layer of product that I was expecting based on the formula’s claims. It was the type of consistency and dry down that allowed for a second layer, so that helped improve opacity and evenness, but it wasn’t as comfortable to wear with two layers. It was still going strong after eight hours of wear but felt slightly drying at the six-hour mark. It was such a cool shade, so I was personally quite bummed it didn’t apply better! Top Dupes

Happy-Go-RosyMAC Happy-Go-Rosy Mineralize Blush ($29.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had medium, buildable pigmentation (up to opaque in three layers), as marketed, that applied evenly and blended out fairly readily, though it took a smidgen more effort than some blushes, which I don’t find uncommon with more matte, richer hues like this shade. To make life easier, try lightly powdering prior to applying the blush, which will make blending a cinch. The consistency was smooth and just a smidgen dusty but not dry or chalky on my skin. This shade wore well for eight hours on me before fading slightly. Top Dupes
Formula Overview$29.00/0.11 oz. - $263.64 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to "build lightly" and "glide onto skin" for "luminous color." Most shades in the range have more medium to semi-opaque coverage, which tends to be buildable to opaque coverage, but most shades are not truly sheer in coverage. The texture used to be drier but has become smoother and more finely-milled over the years. The finish is typically luminous but can be metallic or almost matte depending on the particular shade. They wear between six and eight hours on me. Browse all of our MAC Mineralize Blush swatches. Ingredients

Cream HighlighterThese days, there are so many liquid highlighters that I find I prefer liquid over cream as I think they blend out a little more readily on top of base products. — Christine via Temptalia https://ift.tt/2JEsBWM NuancedMAC Nuanced Mineralize Skinfinish ($34.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a medium peach with warm, rosy undertones and a metallic sheen. There seemed to be slight, larger sparkles throughout the powder, though it did not read glittery to me, particularly on my cheeks once blended out. The compact was comprised of peachy-gold, peach, soft copper, and darker peach, and I think, at best, you might be able to lean toward a more golden effect if one concentrated on the top half or more coppery, rusty by concentrating on the lower half. The colors were rather harmonious, all warm-toned, and closer together. The powder as a soft, smooth, and blendable texture that was fairly finely-milled and applied evenly to my skin. The pigmentation was opaque in a single layer, but I felt like the texture made it easier to apply more or less depending on pressure and tool. It had a noticeable shine but wasn’t metallic enough that it emphasized my skin’s natural texture. On me, the highlighter (well, highlighting blush on my skin tone!) wore well for eight hours before fading slightly. Top Dupes
Formula Overview$34.00/0.35 oz. - $97.14 Per Ounce The description has changed over the years--the most current description (as of 4/21/2018) is that it is a "slow-baked, velvety soft, domed face powder with a radiant finish" that can be used to highlight "the high points of the face" or blended "all over for a sheer luminous polish to the skin." The sheerness seems to be more in referenced to the finish than the coverage, as the usage now states to use the product damp for an even stronger sheen. In general, the Mineralize Skinfinish formula tends to be more metallic to glittery with medium to opaque coverage--it really depends on the shade. The texture of the formula has been refined over the years with current editions being fairly smooth, blendable, and easy to use. The wear has varied from six to eight hours on me with newer shades and variations lasting closer to eight hours on average. Browse all of our MAC Mineralize Skinfinish swatches. Occasionally, if I have a look that I’m finding hard to choose a blush for, I might opt for bronzer but use it to add a little definition and slight warmth.

via Temptalia https://ift.tt/2HHasHo 100 DegreesUrban Decay 100 Degrees Vice Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a bright, medium pinky-coral with warm undertones and a glossy, shiny finish. It looked like a glossy balm and less like a lipstick in finish, but it had a slight tackiness for better adhesion (and more consistent with the Vice formula). The finish is “Sheer,” which Urban Decay describes as a “punch of color with a sheer, shiny finish,” and I’d say that’s somewhat accurate–100 Degrees ran a bit more pigmented (more like medium to semi-opaque). The color applied smoothly to my lips and didn’t drag with fairly even application and minimal color that settled into my lip lines (which wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance). It wore well for four and a half hours and was nicely hydrating. Top Dupes
Formula Overview$18.00/0.11 oz. - $163.64 Per Ounce Urban Decay Vice Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.11 oz.) is available in six finishes, which are primarily distinguished by level of sheen, shimmer content, and coverage. Mega Mattes are the thinnest and have the most “cling” as they are drier and more matte (but most are semi-matte and not a totally flat matte) and can be drying, though they are longer-wearing. Comfort Mattes are creamier, a little denser, with richer color payoff on average (they are the most pigmented out of the finishes), and have a satin finish that is fairly comfortable to wear, usually lightly hydrating, and longer-wearing. Creams are usually softer and creamier, though not too soft (they don’t mush or break from the base easily), with some being tackier and stiffer in the tube until they warm up against the lips; they have good color payoff, are hydrating, and are comfortable to wear but have more typical wear (four to six hours–six hours for deeper/richer shades like a red). Sheers and Sheer Shimmers have a more balm-like consistency that feels a little thinner but is wetter/more emollient than Mega Mattes, so ultimately, they feel quite different applied; they have sheerer coverage, though more semi-sheer to semi-opaque than very sheer, and have the shortest wear time at two to fours with light hydration. Metallized is the most shimmery of the finishes, though some of the other finishes have shades that are actually as shimmery (to me), but the Metallized formula has a thinner, more emollient base that isn’t as dense or as cream-like as the Creams; they feel more like the Sheers but a bit heavier and more pigmented (but seem to run semi-opaque to opaque, not always fully opaque) with average wear (four to five hours), light hydration. HeatwaveUrban Decay Heatwave Vice Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a rich, deep copper-brown with warm, red undertones and a metallic finish. It had rich, opaque pigmentation with a lightweight, creamy texture that wasn’t too thick or too thin but had enough substance to adhere well and yield rich coverage despite the shine. There was a smidgen of product that did get into my deeper lip lines, but the opacity and metallic sheen made it hard to see it from a normal viewing distance (just in the close-up photos). It lasted for five hours and was hydrating while worn. Top Dupes

It had a more balm-like texture that was lightweight and emollient, so it applied without dragging and tugging, and I only could feel the glittery bits just slightly when I pressed my lips together. It was labeled as a “Metallized” finish, and it’s extremely sheer, which isn’t how the Metallized formula is described, unfortunately. I think that this should have been part of the “Sheer Shimmer” finish, which would have made a lot more sense. It lasted for two and a half hours but was moisturizing. Top Dupes

The texture was smooth, not too thick or too thin as expected of a gel-based formula, which made it spreadable and easy to work with when mixing in with other creams and liquids or applying directly to the skin. It had sheer coverage that was buildable to medium coverage when used as a standalone highlighter, which is one way to use it, and it had a soft sheen that was dewier than it was overtly shimmery or metallic, so it didn’t emphasize my skin’s natural texture. When I played around with a single drop on my forearm, I could cover the underside of my arm with one drop and get medium or greater coverage–it had a very pretty sheen on the body but did look noticeably redder against my natural undertones. When I mixed it in with foundation, it can noticeably tint and darken my base depending on how much coverage the foundation formula was and how much of the Dew Drops I put in it. Since I am yellower, if I didn’t get the right balance, it did have a slightly sunburnt look on my skin tone. I find the effect helps to blur the skin a little without using a fuller coverage foundation and gives a dewier finish to satin-to-matte foundations as well. It wore well for nine hours as a cheek highlighter and did not see to shorten the wear of my base products. Top Dupes

It had good pigmentation with a soft, silky consistency that was incredibly easy to apply and blend out on my skin. It had a matte finish but did not appear too flat or matte/dry on my skin. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before starting to fade. The powder has a strong, coconut scent that’s a little sweet. I found that the quality and color was consistent with last year’s release for the most part–if pressed, I’d say this year’s is a touch rosier overall and a bit softer in texture but has a similar look and feel on the skin.
