Nasomatto Black Afgano Extrait de Parfum had glimpses into a lot of its notes in the early 15 minutes of wear, but it was mostly dark, earthy, animalic oud with resinous, overripe fruits and little else on my skin. It was more spiced, nutty, and toffee-like early on, along with a more definable raspberry sweetness, but it morphed into something fruity but nothing distinctive to my nose. The notes are listed as:
It opened with rich, roasted coffee and dark oud, quickly followed by nutty labdanum and chewy, toffee-like resins that were thick, heady, and woody. It felt like an incredibly dark, rich amber with whispers of oud, earthy, lightly animalic. There were subtle, leathery undertones that spilled through the amber. Within five minutes, a kiss of raspberry sweetness atop a mountain of spiced, resinous amber and oud. Black Afgano remained mostly an amber and oud mix, where the oud was never at its full, most challenging intensity; instead, it added an earthiness and rounded out the amber and kept it from being as heavily spiced as it was initially. The oud suggested something animalic but nowhere near the barnyard. There was a fleeting whisper of cannabis after 20 minutes that was deep in the background. I found the oud turned louder over the next two hours with a sweet, fruity element over smoke and spiced amber. The oud continued to be the strongest element in the composition through the drydown–it was rich, resinous, and somewhat animalic and musky. Five hours in, the drydown has slightly more of a smoky quality paired with the fruity sweetness and oud, which was still fairly intense in scent. ApplicationFor testing, I used 1/2 of a 0.7ml sample vial dabbed to the underside and topside of my wrist area on my left arm. I used an unscented moisturizer prior to applying the scent as this is also my swatching arm (aka, incredibly parched at any given moment) as I found scent did not hold well here otherwise. I purchased my sample in January 2022; fragrances are known to be reformulated over their lifetime , so be mindful of when a review was made, e.g. a review from 2010 may not reflect what the same-named perfume smells like in 2022. LongevityIt lasted for three hours until it was a skin-scent and about 10 hours before it was quite difficult to detect on my skin. The sillage and projection were moderate but dropped within two hours. Personal ThoughtsOud with such an intense, sweet and fruity aspect didn’t quite do it for me; I felt like it was too much of the same thing for too long! I was surprised that the oud didn’t shift more throughout the development of the scent. Available Sizes

Hope your weekend is starting off on the right note! Every Saturday, I like to share the top 10 products from the last week of reviews. It’s a nice way to highlight what reviews have been published recently. Similarly, I love reading–and I know others enjoy sharing!–their own “week in review” when it comes to what makeup/beauty products they may have used and/or enjoyed. via Temptalia https://ift.tt/PMezr1b French RivieraLaura Mercier French Riviera Tinted Moisturizer Blush ($28.00 for 0.5 oz.) is a deeper, reddish-brown with subtle, warm undertones and a satin-matte finish. The formula had a fluid, gel-like texture that was thin, lightweight, and spreadable that dried down to a more semi-matte finish that wasn’t fully flat but was transfer-resistant. It had more medium to semi-opaque coverage using a small amount (same as other shades), so it seemed more pigmented than most shades in the range and more pigmented than marketed, though one could use even less to get sheerer and more buildable results if desired. It stayed on nicely for nine hours before showing signs of fading. FURTHER READING: Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent). Top Dupes
Formula Overview$28.00/0.5 oz. - $56.00 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to have a "hint" of color and give "12 hours of weightless tinted hydration." While they're billed as a blush, the brand noted that they were "safety tested for use on lips, cheeks, and eyelids." The brand recommended applying with fingertips and that it could be applied in layers to build up coverage "where needed." It is a formula that starts of liquid and more fluid but dries down and has more of a 'set' finish, which is better for longevity but means that it is best to apply one cheek at a time and make sure to blend without distractions! I didn't feel like I had to rush to apply at all, but I found that the most foolproof way to work with these was using a fluffy, synthetic brush swirled in product I had dispensed on the back of my hand (you won't need much for a sheer layer). I would argue that this was a moderately pigmented product, particularly with mid-tone and deeper hues as they seemed less apt to sheer out compared to some of the lighter colors I tried. As it was a liquid product, it was more or less pigmented depending on how much product one used, and it was fluid enough that it was hard to get a consistent amount of product out in a "squeeze." This was why I liked to put a bit on the back of my hand and then pick up product from there, as it ensured I didn't pick up too much product in one go. The product applied evenly over bare skin as well as over foundation, though I felt like when I tried using my fingertips, it wasn't quite as reliable in results when used over foundation--it occasionally shifted base products around. I would recommend letting the product dry out slightly (about five seconds) before applying over base products if using fingertips; this let the blush become a little less wet and seemed to minimize shifting. Behind-the-scenes, the retailer pulled out of all affiliate programs, which A+ for not dragging me through the bankruptcy process (hello, Neiman Marcus!), but it wasn’t until this sale came through this morning that I wondered if they were closing or filing for bankruptcy. I have shopped through b-glowing previously, and I haven’t had any issues, so they are a legitimate retailer, in case anyone was worried! via Temptalia https://ift.tt/7NchDFQ Walking HomeILNP Walking Home Holographic Nail Polish ($10.00 for 0.4 oz.) is a deep, bluish-purple with cool undertones with holographic flakes and finer violet shimmer throughout. It had a smooth, fluid consistency that wasn’t too thick or too thin, so it applied evenly to my nail and felt easy to control along the edges. Per the brand, it has its maximum coverage in two to three coats. In the swatches, I’ve applied two coats using Deborah Lipmann Gel Lab Pro base and top coats, which was sufficient for full coverage. I wore this shade for 10 days and had minor tip wear and no chips. FURTHER READING: Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent). Formula Overview$10.00/0.4 oz. - $25.00 Per Ounce The brand has several finishes, though some overlap, and they primarily have polishes with some shimmer to them, which often includes holographic, duochromatic, or multichromatic shimmer and effects. The majority of shades specifically list how many coats are necessary for full coverage, which typically ranged from two to three, though a few went as high as four coats; the jelly finish, as expected, tended to be the sheerest. I found that what was stated was typically accurate to opacity performance. Most shades needed two coats for even (and/or opaque) coverage. More metallic shades--often multichromes--had barely visible brush strokes from a normal viewing distance (as compared to a close-up photo, which is magnified). An additional coat sometimes made these even less noticeable, and then a good layer of top coat further reduced the visibility. Both the holographic and multichrome shades presented with visible shifts and even dispersion of holographic shimmer/sparkle. Some of the multichrome shades had less contrasting shifts, so the effect wasn't as strong head-on (e.g. shifting between blue to violet to warmer purple) but readily visible just glancing at my nails resting on the desk and so on. Many shades had finer pearl/shimmer, which danced and caught the light beautifully but ensured a smooth texture and easier removal. The formula tended to have a light to light-medium viscosity to it, which ensured fluid, more even coverage without being thick, goopy, or so thin that it dried down as one applied it to nail. Some of the black-based shimmer shades seemed to be a little thinner relative to the jelly or multichrome finishes. Most shades self-leveled and hid my more ridged nails, though a good base and top coat would be ideal. Overall, the polishes were smooth and easy to work with, while the brush itself wasn't too wide nor too narrow, though I had to be most careful working with some of the richer shades on my pinky! The drying time seemed average; I was able to add a second (and/or third) coat after I had done the other nails on my hand. I would give the Multichromes a little extra time to dry down just to ensure the least visible brush strokes in the end result, though. For the more sparkly and textured shades, like the glitters, I felt like a top coat really helped to bring everything together to give the end result a shiny, plush effect. Of the shades I've done full wear tests for (about 20 shades at the time of writing the overview), none of them have chipped over the course of a week. I've had minor tip wear across the board with some shades having very minor tip wear at that. That being said, it's typical for me to have polish last a week or longer on me, though, and I have not personally had issues with finding a formula that wears a week with minor tip wear but no chipping. The primary source of tip wear likely comes from typing on the computer, though I also open small, paper cartons and peel off labels routinely when opening new products (for review). In the CloudsILNP In the Clouds Holographic Nail Polish ($10.00 for 0.4 oz.) has a pale, lavender base with lighter, warmer gold shimmer throughout that gave it a more metallic finish. There was very fine, less noticeable holographic shimmer throughout. There were faint threads of metallic shimmer that were slightly visible in person, but it wasn’t too noticeable, particularly with a glossier top coat on top. The consistency was thicker and overly fluid for me, so the product didn’t apply as evenly as desired. Per the brand, it has its maximum coverage in two to three coats. In the swatches, I’ve applied two coats using Deborah Lipmann Gel Lab Pro base and top coats, and a third coat would be necessary for full coverage, but two seemed on the thicker side in my experience. The drydown is woodier and a little smoky, but the other notes from before were more dominant and noticeable. It is described as having “jammy rose essence” and a “juicy plum accord” and is part of the brand’s “Narcotics” family, which is dedicated to highlighting floral notes. Here is a more complete set of notes as seen on retailers:
Scent DevelopmentIt had a sharp twist of slightly greener, woody black currant with a kiss of coconut creaminess that was then spiced with cinnamon and overtaken by plum. There were a few slices of peach that seemed to add sweetness but were less noticeable as actual peach in scent. The coconut really tamped down the “fruity” aroma of peach, plum, and black currant and made it feel more indulgent and richer with less overt sweetness. After 15 minutes of settling on my skin, Liaisons Dangereuses turned smoother, creamier, and slightly musky with a medley of fruit with coconut cream and a veil of rose. The perfume softened further, more of a peach and coconut fruitiness over a creamy, vanillic base of musk and rose. It stayed in that space until about the fourth hour during the drydown where it was slightly smoky and woodsy with peach, coconut, and vanilla that were a little musky and floral. ApplicationFor testing, I used 1/3 of a 0.7ml sample vial dabbed to the underside and topside of my wrist area on my left arm. LongevityIt lasted for eight hours until it was a skin-scent and about 12 hours before it was quite difficult to detect on my skin. The sillage and projection were moderate and dropping closer to the body after two and a half hours of wear. Personal ThoughtsI liked that the coconut was present but the fragrance never felt like a beachy/sandy/sunscreen lotion kind of fragrance, so it was just enjoyable to see coconut in a different light than I have previously. The musk was more an element of diffusion than heavy, which I also preferred. If I found myself wanting to wear more fruit-floral fragrances, this is one I would consider. Available Sizes

It had mostly opaque, buildable color coverage paired with a velvety-smooth texture that was lightweight, thin, and spreadable without catching on lip texture or feeling clingy. It dried down to a matte finish within five minutes from application. It stayed on well for five hours and felt neither drying nor hydrating on me. Formula Overview$12.00/0.08 oz. - $150.00 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to have a "cream-to-powder texture" that is "kiss-proof once set" with a "silky and weightless" feel on the lips. The brand didn't specifically make any claims about pigmentation in their description, but the promotional swatches included at the point of purchase show fully opaque coverage across the board. They have a very lightweight, mousse-like texture that was very lightweight, velvety, and smooth with good spreadability. The applicator held a good amount of product without being too generous, as I did not feel like I had to wipe off excess. They took a few minutes to dry down, and the dry down time varied a little between some shades. They were forgiving of most lip texture and weren't too prone to emphasizing lip lines or settling into them. Most shades had opaque color coverage in one layer of product. With deeper shades, two layers tended to be better for full, even coverage, despite the shades themselves being quite pigmented in a single layer, but they were more prone to spreading and diffusing unevenly. The shades tended to dry down within 15 minutes with some doing so within five minutes to a more transfer-resistant finish. The formula wore between four and eight hours on me with deeper, reddish shades lasting longer and leaving subtle stains behind. They felt non-drying over time. I did not notice any scent or taste. DuneKaleidos Dune Cloud Lab Lip Clay ($12.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a muted, medium rosy-brown with a matte finish. The texture was lightweight, smooth, and velvety with a more silicone-like glide that dried down to a matte finish within five minutes of application. The product had full color payoff in a single layer, which applied evenly to my lips and didn’t emphasize my lip texture. It wore nicely for four hours and felt non-drying while worn.
