Phytosurgence is a newer, Canadian-based brand that caught my attention after several long-time blogger friends started sharing photos/swatches. I bought several of their products–pretty much what was in stock when I made my order–and have swatches of four of their cream-to-powder highlighters (there are eight shades in total), eight cream blushes, and six cream eyeshadows. ILNP Nail Polish ($10.00 to $12.50 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is a brand I’ve heard a lot about in the last few years, but it wasn’t until a recent conversation with a good friend (“in real life” as one might say) that I finally put together an order! Of course, I wasn’t initially drawn to their multichromes–duochromes, jellies, and glitter caught my eye more–but I ended up making a second order to try some of the multichromes out. I have about 17 more to swatch between my two orders, but swatching and photographing 40 was a feat in itself, so here we are with some swatches! For most of the polishes, you’ll want to click/tap on a shade to view all of the photos to see swatches from different angles. ILNP Nail PolishGallery Options

Most shades had medium to semi-opaque coverage and were somewhat buildable, but the more unusual mattes definitely needed an eyeshadow primer (and something with some tackiness would be even better) to build up and apply true-to-color. Quick Shop: Lethal Cosmetics, Camera Ready CosmeticsStraight to VHSStraight to VHS is a very light yellow with moderate, warm undertones and a chunkier, sparkling and high-shine, metallic finish. The texture was thicker and had moderate creaminess to it, but it was hard to pick up evenly with a dry brush. I’d recommend using this with a fingertip or a dampened brush (this was the best method, in my experience) to help the product go on smoothly and not have fallout. It had mostly opaque, buildable color coverage that lasted well for eight hours on me. FURTHER READING: Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent). Top Dupes
Formula Overview$6.00/0.06 oz. - $100.00 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to have "extreme pigmentation" and "effortless blendability" ... "that [will] last all day." There are two primary finishes: mattes and metallics, and the latter can also be used wet. The matte finish has semi-opaque to opaque color coverage with moderate powderiness; it's a formula that is best used with a lighter hand. There was light fallout with some shades, though not at all, and they were blendable for the most part. Even with a light hand, there was still a bit of powderiness present--the brand did warn about using less with their formula--in the pan. There were a few darker shades that had a tendency to sheer out when applied or did not apply as evenly, especially when layered over a lighter shade but most of the mid-tone and lighter shades were easy to apply and blend out. As a result, I found myself having better results by going dark to light rather than light to dark (which is more in line with how I typically work). The metallic finish ranged from creamier, denser, and a bit thicker to softer, dense but still a little powdery (usually the lighter, more white-based shades). They were mostly opaque to fully opaque in a single layer, so they didn't need to be applied with a wet brush to achieve coverage or adhesion. I found that some of the more powdery, shimmery shades were more flattering on the lid when used with a fingertip or a dampened brush, though. The matte eyeshadows tended to wear around eight hours on me before fading, while the shimmer shades lasted eight to eight and a half hours on me. Quick Shop: Lethal Cosmetics, Camera Ready CosmeticsWatery GraveWatery Grave is a light lavender with cool, blue undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer color payoff that was somewhat buildable but needed a tackier base to perform decently and have fuller coverage. The texture was soft and finely-milled but moderately powdery and thinner, which contributed to the application and sheerness. It lasted well for seven hours before fading noticeably. Every Saturday, I like to share the top 10 products from the last week of reviews. It’s a nice way to highlight what reviews have been published recently. Similarly, I love reading–and I know others enjoy sharing!–their own “week in review” when it comes to what makeup/beauty products they may have used and/or enjoyed. via Temptalia https://ift.tt/3lgBSKF 714Urban Decay 714 Vice Hydrating LipstickUrban Decay 714 Vice Hydrating Lipstick ($19.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a vivid, medium-dark red with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had a firmer texture than the majority of matte shades in the formula, so it felt more like a traditional matte–firm, thin, lightweight, and tugged slightly (but not painfully). It had nearly opaque color coverage that applied evenly and stayed on well for six hours. It left behind a strong stain and felt non-drying. Formula Overview$19.00/0.11 oz. - $172.73 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to be "super-pigmented," "hydrating," and "long-lasting." There are three finishes: cream, matte, and shine, and the way they feel, apply, and wear does depend on the finish, so I've broken the overview down by finish. The Matte finish is comparable to the original Comfort Matte finish in the Vice Lipstick formula. They have a creamy, smooth consistency that has more of a satin finish than a true matte finish. They will wear down to more of a semi-matte to matte finish as some of the shine gets worn down. They were typically opaque, fairly forgiving of imperfections on the lips, and wore between four and six hours. There were a couple shades, usually on the lighter end of the color spectrum, that were more prone to settling into my lip lines. There were a few shades in the Matte finish that were true mattes and were more of a traditional matte, though still smooth and emollient enough to apply without tugging, but they were thinner and a touch "clingy" in comparison (just not to the point of emphasizing lip texture or being uncomfortable to wear). The Cream finish is comparable to the original Cream finish in the Vice Lipstick formula. The texture was smooth, more like a gel-cream, as it was dense and lightly tacky, so it glided better once it warmed up against my lips. What I've always enjoyed--and enjoy about the reformulation--is the texture helps keep the color in place, make it appear smoother and sit better on my lips, while still giving lots of shine. These shades were semi-opaque to opaque in coverage and wear time around four to five hours. The Shine finish is most comparable to the original Sheer finish in the Vice Lipstick formula, but to me, these were less comparable than the other two finishes. The Shine finish is a very smooth, gel-like balm that has a lot of glide, no tackiness, and is very glossy. They are almost easy to over-apply as they are so soft and creamy (also why they come in the slim tube to prevent the lipstick from breaking at the base). These shades were more semi-opaque to mostly opaque with some translucency. They lasted around two to four hours. The majority of the shades were hydrating, though a few of the truer matte shades were more non-drying. There was no discernible scent or taste. HexUrban Decay Hex Vice Hydrating LipstickUrban Decay Hex Vice Hydrating Lipstick ($19.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a medium-dark burgundy with subtle, neutral-to-cool undertones and a satin finish. The texture was smooth, creamy, and a little velvety as the product skated across my lips but never felt heavy. This shade had rich pigmentation that delivered even coverage and wore well for five and a half hours. There was a light stain left behind, and the formula felt hydrating. via Temptalia https://ift.tt/3lhN9KH NovaMelt Cosmetics Nova SexFoil Liquid HighlighterMelt Cosmetics Nova SexFoil Liquid Highlighter ($39.00 for 1.01 oz.) is a rich, coppery bronze with warm undertones and warmer, lighter golden shimmer throughout. It had semi-sheer to medium, buildable pigmentation; it was slightly more pigmented than other shades in the range, but it was really about how much was applied and how long one let it sit to dry. In practice, this resulted in semi-sheer, buildable coverage when I used the product on my face and more medium coverage, that could be sheered out or built up, on my body. The consistency was lightweight, thin, and more like a very fluid gel, which helped it work as a body product as it could be spread over larger surface areas. On the flip side, it was overly spreadable when trying to use it on a smaller area, so I applied some to the back of my hand–using as little as I could dispense–and then swirled my brush in that before tapping it on. This helped let the product “dry” a little and kept the coverage more concentrated where I applied it to my face without having to spread it out too much to get an even layer of product. It stayed on nicely for nine hours before fading visibly but wasn’t transfer-resistant enough to not get onto clothes. FURTHER READING: Formula Overview for details on general performance and characteristics (like scent). Top Dupes
Formula Overview$39.00/1.01 oz. - $38.61 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to be "an emulsion of liquid pearl pigments that illuminate, hydrate, and add radiant dimension." The formula is intended to be used as a standalone highlighter on the face and the body, but it can also be mixed in with foundation. They recommend using a shade deeper than one's natural skin tone for a liquid bronzing effect. It is supposed to have "light" coverage and give a "natural glow" when worn alone. It's a very fluid formula, almost watery, but there was more of a gel-like feel when I played with it and spread it out over my arm. I've found that despite being rather runny, it has a faster dry-down than I would have expected and applied well on bare skin, over foundation, or mixed in with foundation. A few shades had more noticeable sparkle, and unlike a lot of liquid highlighters on the market, these had more depth in the shade spectrum, so some shades may work better for multi-tasking (e.g. alone, mixed in, etc.) than others depending on one's skin tone. In general, the shades produced a smoother, pearlescent sheen that wasn't as intense as the product name might suggest but certainly could be built up and made foil-like. They sheered out readily and were a lot less intense/opaque compared to the brand's swatches (which were particularly frustrating since they took a full pump of product and didn't even let it dry!). The applicator took some getting used to but almost always pumped out too much product for use on the face. It had more semi-sheer, buildable coverage, though it certainly depended on how much product was applied. For higher-coverage on the face, it was best applied onto the back of your hand, and then swirled a few times on a synthetic brush, then applied. This gave the formula some time to "dry" while being picked up on the brush, which translated to higher coverage on my face that didn't spread out as much. They wore well for eight to nine hours on my cheeks. It was supposed to be transfer-resistant, which it sort of was--it didn't immediately move or migrate, and most of it was left behind, but a light tap of of my fingertip against the product revealed pearl on my fingertip (no rubbing was done!). There wasn't a noticeable scent. Browse all of our Melt Cosmetics SexFoil Liquid Highlighter swatches. The shimmers varied from more satiny to sparkly, so there was a lot of differences in texture between the five shades. The quality was decent but the matte black was stiffer to work with, so whether it “works” comes down to preference for sure. Ingredients

Formula Overview- The formula is supposed to have a "creamy and comfortable texture" that is long-wearing and has "intense color" (or "high-pigment"). There are five finishes that can be found within various palettes: matte, satin, shimmer, metallic, highlighter, and glitter, though there aren't specific descriptions by finish, unfortunately. There were a few shades that seemed more sparkly and were sheerer, more like layering shades, while the other finishes tended to be pigmented. In general, the texture was moderately dense with the matte shades being slightly thinner and a smidgen powdery in the pan compared to the satin, shimmer, and metallic shades. Aside from those more sparkly shades, the formula was blendable, pigmented, easy to work with, and lasted an average of eight hours on me (without a primer). It had larger flecks of sparkle throughout, but they were flatter, which helped them adhere better to skin, though there was light fallout when blended and during wear.
