Sienna (696)Dior Sienna (696) High Fidelity Colours & Effects Eyeshadow Palette ($63.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a new, limited edition palette for summer featuring five warm-toned neutrals–all with shimmer–that performed well. I only had some trouble with the first shade, which was sheerer and a bit drier, while the other four shades were pigmented and easy to work with. If you tend to like more pearly finishes–shimmery but not metallic–you may find that this palette up your alley.

MysticalKaja Mystical Moon Crystal Sparkling Eye Pigment ($16.00 for 0.29 oz.) is a bright lavender with cooler blue-to-pink shifting pearl and larger sparkle. It had medium to semi-opaque pigmentation with a chunkier, more glittery texture. Applied, it also kept its high-shine finish along with lots of twinkle. The downside was that it did not apply evenly to my lid and had a tendency to emphasize lid texture/lines. The liquid eyeshadow dried down quickly, but it just didn’t dry down in a flattering way; from afar, it was brightening and sparkly, but up-close, it was a mess. The best way to use the product was to apply it all over the center of the lid with a fingertip, diffusing the edges quickly for more of a one-and-done kind of look. Once the eyeshadow set, it wore well for nine hours without creasing, but I had slight fallout over time. Top Dupes
Formula Overview$16.00/0.29 oz. - $55.17 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to be a "weightless, jelly eyeshadow" that has "full-pigment" and "high-impact sparkle" that "dries to a powder" for longwear. Of the four shades I tried, they were blendable, fairly pigmented, and long-wearing, but the struggle was in the application and in getting a smooth, even layer. I was only able to get one shade, Tiger's Eye, to blend out evenly, while the other three I tried had a tendency to clump up as I applied and blended them out. They worked better applied all over a larger space with a fingertip than with brushes or to smaller areas; being able to spread and really work the product across the larger area prevented them from getting noticeably uneven. Once applied, they set quickly (definitely work one area at a time) to a powder-like finish that stayed in place for about eight and a half hours before I noticed creasing/flaking (the ones that went on unevenly were more likely to flake off). MagicKaja Magic Moon Crystal Sparkling Eye Pigment ($16.00 for 0.29 oz.) is a deeper, reddish-brown base with blue-to-teal shifting sparkle and pearl. The consistency was noticeably clumpy as it squeezed out of the tube (and a little went a long way), so in order for the product to go on smoothly, there had to be enough pressure during application to smooth those clumps out–and this was a challenge. I had the best luck applying the color all over my lid with my fingertip, as it gave me the surface area to diffuse and spread everything out and the warmth of my fingertip seemed to help it stay pliable longer. When I used a brush, it was difficult to apply the product evenly and smooth out the lumps, so it was noticeably thicker in some areas than others, which emphasized my lid texture/lines. It dried down fairly quickly, but it had a tendency to pull away as it was drying down, and this just seemed to make the unevenness I was already contending with even worse! The eyeshadow was quite pigmented, and a little went a long way, so it was good to start with less than you think you might need and ramp up as needed, though it did not build up well–so I mean that more in the sense of what seems like necessary for just one eye. Once it was on, the eyeshadow stayed on without creasing for nine hours but a few flakes had fallen over time. Top Dupes

It had good color coverage in a single layer, which could be built up to full coverage with less than half of a layer more. The color applied evenly but did seem to separate a bit along my lip lines and did catch on small imperfections on my lips (and as always, I exfoliated prior to taking photos!). The texture was very lightweight, thin, and firmer in the tube, but it didn’t tug on my lips and just needed slightly firmer pressure during application. The color turned a bit pinker over the next several hours, and as more of the product wore away and revealed the stain part of the formula, it was less orange and more coral-red and eventually wore off enough that it was reddish-pink kind of stain (less orange). The more “lipstick” like part of the formula stayed on well for five hours, while the stain started to look faded after an additional three hours of wear. Of the three shades launched, this had the least long-wearing stain as it was mostly gone after a second meal. It was very long-wearing and surprisingly comfortable for an all-day color–not deeply hydrating but more lightly hydrating and good at moisture retention from what I could tell! Top Dupes
Formula Overview$24.00/0.07 oz. - $342.86 Per Ounce The formula is supposed to be a "high-impact, low-maintenance lip stain" with "vibrant, bold color" and a "satin-matte finish." In the initial launch at least, there are only three shades available, and while they were noticeably different initially, they all tended to have more of a fuchsia-like stain left behind that looked more similar than not. Each shade was intensely pigmented with semi-opaque to opaque coverage in a single layer. The consistency was firmer, thinner, and felt almost gel-like as they applied to my lips, and they didn't drag but did need firmer pressure compared to their other lip products (not in a painful or uncomfortable way). The product was quick to stain, and the stain itself was intense and richer with more coverage--by no means a faint stain or anything resembling a light stain leftover from a more pigmented red lipstick or the like. The stain lingered and lingered into the next morning for two shades, which I had to remove by using a microfiber cloth and remover to get most of the product off. This product, in general, will work better for someone who is less concerned about wearing drastically different colors from day to day as a result of how long-wearing the stain portion was. The issue I had was that after a second meal, the stain was noticeably uneven and not something I'd want to keep wearing. The lip colors seemed to last five to six hours, while the stain certainly went on and on and was "decent" in how it appeared for another five to seven hours (depending on what one ate/drank and how often). I'd recommend reapplication at that point or tapping some more on the center of lips and blending outward if good wear is necessary for more than that length of time. They were comfortable to wear, lightly hydrating in the way that it seemed to help my lips retain their moisture over time without adding enough hydration that my lips felt better after 12+ hours of wearing a shade. They had a faint, sweet, lemony scent but no discernible taste. Also, the product is not transfer-proof, but the stain itself is transfer-resistant (some will come away on a napkin). Sangria SlushBite Beauty Sangria Slush Outburst Longwear Lip Stain ($24.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium-dark red with subtle, cool undertones and a satin finish. It had good pigmentation that applied evenly in a single layer and could be built up to fuller coverage with a second layer. The texture was lightweight, thin without being clingy, and had a firmer feel in the tube but only needed firmer pressure to apply without tugging (and it was never uncomfortable to apply!). The more “lipstick” like part of the formula wore well for five and a half hours before it seemed like more of the lip stain was coming through, which appeared as a deeper fuchsia (much like Strawberry Froze appears to begin with). The stain stayed on well for another six hours but started to look uneven/splotchy after my second meal, though there was still significant (if patchy) staining left behind into the next morning, which was when I used a cloth and remover to scrub off the remainder. The formula felt lightly hydrating overall, as my lips did not feel dry after wearing it all day long. Top Dupes

While my experience with gel-powder type formulas, including the Lovegasm palette (which shares the formula here), tend to have a firmer press (but no powderiness) and work best with moderately dense brushes (they are also hard to overdo unless you’re super heavy handed!)… this one went beyond that and entered into the territory where stiff/firm became negative descriptors. For two shades, I felt like they were pressed too firmly that it interfered with the ability to use the products easily with the blush being the hardest to use.

Lightgasm HighlightLightgasm Highlight is a bright, pale gold with warm, yellow undertones and a sparkling sheen. It had medium coverage that was buildable to mostly opaque pigmentation in two to three layers. The powder had a smooth, firmer texture, but I didn’t have any issues picking up product and blending it out on my skin. I’d recommend using a moderately dense brush with this shade (your typical tapered highlighting brush would work fine–I’d just stay away from a fan brush). It stayed on well for eight hours on me before it started to show signs of fading. Top Dupes

Lightgasm Multi-GlowLightgasm Multi-Glow is a light-medium peach with warm undertones and fine pink and gold shimmer. It had good color coverage in a single layer, which was buildable to full coverage. The consistency was smooth, firmer and denser so there was no powderiness, and it worked best with a slightly denser brush in order to pick up product evenly from the surface, which I find typical of this type of formula. The powder applied evenly and blended out seamlessly on my cheeks without emphasizing my skin’s natural texture. It lasted for eight hours on my cheeks before it started to fade a bit. Top Dupes

Lightgasm BronzeLightgasm Bronze is a light brown with soft, golden undertones and a satin sheen. It had medium, buildable pigmentation but a very, very firmly-pressed texture–more so than I’d expect even for the gel-powder type formula. I felt like if it wasn’t pressed so hard, it would be more pigmented, as I was able to jab at the surface and get nearly opaque coverage applied ton my skin. The powder blended out easily, though, and there was a subtle sheen that wasn’t shimmery but was a step above semi-matte. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably. Top Dupes

Lightgasm Pop BlushLightgasm Pop Blush is a medium, bluer-based pink base with warm, gold sparkle. It had sheer coverage that was buildable, but the texture was very firmly-pressed and needed more than just a denser brush or heavier hand–I had to really dig into the pan and work the powder off the surface before picking it up with a brush. It seemed to soften slightly after a few uses but was still overly stiff/firm where I felt I was sacrificing ease of use for that seamless blendability that you often get with the gel-powder hybrids. The color lasted nicely for eight and a half hours before showing signs of fading. Top Dupes

It had rich color coverage with a smooth, lightweight, and more mousse-like texture that was emollient without being too wet or too slippery on my skin. I didn’t have issues with this shade creasing quickly on me, and I was able to apply it was a more opaque shade as well as diffused for a wash of color (which will appear best on deeper skin tones, as this one has a lower-level sheen and more base pigment). It wore well for nine hours before creasing very faintly on me. Top Dupes

Rose GoldCharlotte Tilbury Rose Gold Eyes to Mesmerise Long-Lasting Cream Eyeshadow ($32.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a light, rosy copper with subtle, warm undertones and a fine, pearly sheen. It had opaque color coverage but had a very emollient texture that made it hard to apply without inevitably sheering it out. I also couldn’t prevent it from creasing and separating a bit on my inner lid space; I tried less, I tried more, I tried layers, and I tried different tools (fingertips and three different brushes). The only way I was able to wear this shade without it creasing when applied and blended out all over the lid with fingertips, and I managed to avoid creasing on most of my lid except for the very inner crease area. The product dried down and eventually set, so the creasing didn’t keep going and going, and there was very faint creasing apparent after nine hours of wear. Top Dupes

It had semi-opaque color coverage in a single layer, which adhered evenly and smoothly on my lips. The consistency felt firmer, almost like a more solid lip balm, but it glided across my lips with firmer pressure but no dragging or tugging, so it was still easy enough to maneuver it along the edges of my lips. This particular shade is very close to the actual stain that gets left behind after the shine and product wears away. The more “lipstick” like part of the formula still had great wear at five and a half hours, while the stain itself was still noticeably intact into the next day, though it wasn’t strictly wearable. It was a color that could definitely be worn all day long, but it had faded enough and less evenly (especially along the inner area of my lips) by my second meal of the day, which is stellar wear. I’d just recommend being prepared to use something like a microfiber cloth and some makeup remover to soften and remove most of the remaining stain so that lips don’t look blotchy.
Each shade was intensely pigmented with full coverage in a single layer. The stain lingered and lingered into the next morning, which I had to remove by using a microfiber cloth and remover to get most of the product off. Semi-rant: I personally prefer my formulas to be more buildable–I don’t need full-on opacity but need closer to medium coverage or else they just run together and look a bit too much like lip balm (and in that case, I’d rather just wear lip balm!). The other downside is some of those formulas can last 2-3 hours and need so much reapplication! — Christine via Temptalia http://bit.ly/2XUPs7A |
